Its the end of the semester and everything is hitting the fan. Despite the issues, I have been able to keep up with my schoolwork... just not my blog lol So here's the cover for my Children's book, The Boogie Monster: Adventures of Tasha and Boogie

The story is about a girl named Tasha who is afraid of the dark because she believes the Boogie monster in her closet will get her. Her parents are divorced and she lives with her father who insist she learn to sleep without her nightlight. Coincidentally, the first night she sleeps in the dark the Boogie monster does come out... to play. Thus the adventures of Tasha and Boogie begin. "Wherever there is a closet, Boogie is near"

By the way, in the depicted scene she trying to hide Boogie from her father on their first night together. And I am aware Boogie looks like a squirrel-bear. I thought it was a cool combo lol This is also my first time "painting" in photoshop without lines. It was... a struggle lol

Kajinga's Nemisis

I'm working on the antagonist for my little film I'm working on. Kajinga is a short round, kinda cuddly, character. In contrast with Teilis I am going for a more bully of a character. He originally looked like Curious George but I decided to make him more imposing. And of course, what good are character designs without a little character expressions!

I'm still not sure on the color yet...

When gestures attack...

Have you ever seen an more violent gesture drawing?
This is old school but it kinda dates back to my first animated fight scene. Its done traditionally and the assignment was to make a flour sack jump and do some sort of acting...
Yeah... I clearly have an overactive imagination;)

Running through the Wilds..

This a vid of Kajinga done in Adobe Flash!! Yes, it is true. The little bugger made it to the digital world and can now be seen in color. Next stop: CG! I was so happy to finally use flash!
Oh! And ignore the little "transformation" that occurs. That form is still in development;)

The Great Ball bounce of Kajinga

Here's another vid of the little rascal playing with a ball. It was a bouncing ball assignment that I took a little overboard. But it was my first animation class! I was excited. What would you expect? lol

Kajinga's Blast Attack!

Here are some rough animations of my Kajinga character as promised.
This was done with only the basics: Pencil and paper. His attempting at shooting an energy ball from his mouth has an unexpected recoil. He's come along way...

The many eyes of my soul!

Here are a list of eyes Im working on this week in illustrator. I'm new to the program so I am learning the basics. Hopefully in a month I will be laughing at how simple and sad these designs are :)

The order from top to bottom is:
Toucan lol
Subtractive Sails
Additive
Essence Strokes
Essence Plain
Triangle
Simple

So my textures for my Kajinga model in Maya got mucked up yesterday. I am so sad about it:( But alas I will try again and see if it sticks when I open it again. Why is messed up? i don't know. When I get more time I will upload some more things for your viewing pleasure:D

Until next time!

First art post! @3AM :(

Alrighty!
So I can officially call this an art blog because I am about to do my first ART POST! Woo Hoo!!

This little guy's name is Kajinga, He's going to be in my thesis film for my BA. Woot! This is the 2nd time I modeled a character in Maya and after many suggestions (and tutorials) I am confident to post a few shots of him. Mind you, this character will be rigged. And after he has been completed I will be working on his "Nemesis" (Dun Dun Duuun!) I am still tyring to figure out what color I want him to be. Obviously this is an amature mistake in character design that I will be considering much earlier on my next character...

This is a Light Kajinga color scheme. When I did my Flash exercise of him running this was about the color of him (I'll upload that later).

This is the Dark Kajinga color scheme. He looks slightly more menacing but that's pretty obvious, He looks a bit more imp-ish here. I'm not sure how I fell about that yet lol
As it is 3AM and I have been up since 8AM working on this bugger, I just got the idea that if my workload gets to heavy later in the semester, I could always do a Light vs Dark film with BOTH versions! Hmm... It's been done but hopefully the animation will add a new twist to the ageless conflict of the two opposing forces... maybe;)

Well, It's Labor Day and instead of hanging out. I am going to be locked in my room doing homework for the other classes I neglected in todays (yesterdays) Maya battle... :( :( :(

Oh well, I can just consider Maya my new girlfriend now I guess. I don't know how my Drawing Pad will feel about this...

More to come later:)
...That is if sanity doesn't find me. And yes, I did mean sanity;)
